Simon is a Lecturer of Tourism, Aviation and Business at the University of Birmingham approved University College Birmingham.

As a mentor to students from around the world, Simon has evidenced his ability to excel with students of different learning styles and diverse ethnicities. Simon was awarded the “Spotlight on Great Teaching Award” at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham in September 2019, an award voted for by students at the University.

Throughout his time lecturing at the University, Simon has been observed numerous times by Deans of School and University Management officials, each time recognised as an Outstanding Lecturer measured against Oftsed teaching standards.

Before lecturing, Simon taught in an inner-city Further Education College in Birmingham which gave him a strong understanding of the motivations and learning styles of students from many different walks of life. A fundamental element of Simon’s teaching style is to understand the strengths of the student and work on accentuating those, as well as developing the areas the student feels they need support with.
In addition, Simon is focused on providing, a safe, optimistic and enthusiastic learning environment for students where the individuals being tutored feel comfortable to engage in discussion, debate, to ask questions and feel supported in all areas of their study.
